Sex drive zero?
Brain like mush?
Sleep shot?
Night sweats?
Energy in your boots?
Crying for no reason?
Gaining weight?
Anxious?
I wrote this book to help women understand this change time more clearly. It is based on the research I did to navigate my peri/menopause and I keep it up to date with new research as it arrives.
There's so much information out there but which bits are relevant to you, and where do you look if you don't even know if this is perimenopause or something else entirely?
If you want to understand what's happening and why it's happening and you'd love to know how to thrive, then this is the book for you.
'Full of warmth and humour and packed with important and useful information. The author speaks of her personal experience of the menopause in a very relatable way and as a family doctor she explains the research clearly. I highly recommend this to any woman keen to understand how they can navigate the sweats and frets. LH, UK
'Like a night with a wise witty friend, telling you secrets you really really want to know!' MM, UK
'The gut chapter is outstandingly good. You've managed to distil a huge amount of complicated info into something readable, interesting but not dumbed down' SV, UK
'Loved this book and learnt lots. Really enjoyed the audio version too - it does sound like you're talking to me in the pub and telling me about something you understand really well and I'm interested in' SG, UK
I have joined online forums, purchased heavy, reference laden books in the plight to find some answers to my questions and also to find validation for how I'm feeling - and here it is in one easy to read, humorous and 'full of facts' book about the menopause.
I found myself shouting 'OMG, it's not just me!!'.
I'm certainly handing this over to my husband to read. I know so many people who will benefit from this book - my 40 year old niece, all of my girlfriends who are just hitting their 50's and I'm sure my 82 yr old Mum would like to read it so she can reflect on how she coped and navigated her menopause.' With so many different symptoms and changes, it can be difficult to work out what's going on?
Understand the reasons why your tried and tested ways for remaining in shape are no longer working.
Solutions to improve sleep and allow you to be your usual kick-ass self in the workplace.
Explaining the links between oestrogen and mental health and offering ways to limit your tears to real life events.
Talking about the change in confidence and the increase in anxiety and ways to control this.
Brain fog and memory problems - they're a menopause thing. Difficulty word finding, brain stuffed with cotton wool. Why this happens and how to support yourself.
Remaining sexually active despite the fact that sex now ranks at 100 on your list of things you’d like to do today, some way below clearing the shed and visiting your dentist.
Heart disease, Bone thinning, Contraception, Sexual health, Gut and Microbiome health, Skin and Muscle changes...
I'm a family doctor working in the NHS in the UK and I'll be honest, I thought I was pretty well versed in the menopause. That was until I went through it myself...
I had my last period at 43 yrs of age and, despite being ‘in the know’, I was sideswiped by the symptoms and changes that the menopause brought. Crazy bunch of new illnesses or simply 'the change'?
There's lots of information out there but I had to get in amongst the research and work out what to put into action for myself. I’m 55 now and believe you me, I’ve tried a bunch of stuff and still my weight graph can look like a profile of The Alps.
I'm a yoga and breathwork instructor and truly believe that, given the right tools, this can be a positive time and an opportunity to thrive (which probably sounds pretty annoying if you've just had a sleepless night or are bathed in sweat from another hot flush.)

This is for you if:
You want to understand the next big change in your life
You're busy and don’t have time to do the research
You like bite sized pieces of information, on the go, but resources you can come back to.
You are frightened that you’re losing your mind, your job, your relationship, your shape, your sexuality. (Dramatic? Me?)
This is not for you if:
You’re a family doctor or ObsGynae. You know this stuff already.
You’re going to leave it in the hands of your doctor, thanks very much.
There is an extraordinary amount of information out there and not all of it relevant. I'm bringing my 30 year experience as a doctor to focus on the important bits.
Absolutely, do it! Spend that cash but wouldn’t it be nice to arrive already fully read up on the subject, so you can make the consultation pay dividends
It’s good to know more about a significant change in your life even if you are lucky enough to remain symptom free. Also some of the long term changes e.g. bone thinning, only become obvious when you have your first fracture.
I am also a yoga teacher with a mother who’s a homeopath; I really understand that medication, not only isn’t the solution for all, it is medically not an option for some.
You’re getting a doctor’s inside view of the menopause, it’s saving you time that you don’t have much of...and you’re tired.
